One Gen, One Era is a thank-you record. It's for the generation that did ten times more with ten times less, and rarely got told to their face what it cost them or what it built.
Think about what that generation actually carried. Some crossed oceans to a country that didn't roll out a welcome. They worked jobs beneath their qualifications, sent money back home, raised children in one language while dreaming in another, and made it look ordinary. No blueprint. No cushion. Just graft and a belief that the next generation would have it easier.
They planted trees they knew they'd never sit under. We're the shade.
Ten times more with ten times less
We move through a world of shortcuts they never had, a phone that does what a whole office used to, information for free, doors that took them decades to even knock on. So the record holds up a mirror: with all these tools, are we doing even a fraction of what they did with almost nothing? That's not guilt. It's respect turned into fuel.
One era, and it's ours to honour
Each generation only gets one era on the clock. Theirs was survival and sacrifice. Ours gets to be the one that builds on it out loud, that says the names, tells the stories, and makes sure the graft wasn't invisible. This song is a small piece of that record kept.
To everyone who did the impossible quietly so we wouldn't have to: this one's yours.
